So hows about I steal your layout? No, people don't ask me this very often, but there are permutations to this question and things I can best answer if I go at it all at once. Some people will go after you with stake and pitchforks and plaster threatening disclaimers everywhere. I'm not going to do this. It isn't worth my time. Exactly reproducing my graphics will upset me, but I'm happy to share techniques and inspiration. Coding is the same way-- look all you like at my CSS, if it will help you. We're all hobbyists, and we should all be trying to improve together, yeah? If building upon something I've done will help you be a better webdesigner, I'm generally all for it. Credit is nice, if you're feeling kind. However, if every design of yours looks suspiciously like one of mine, I doubt you're really trying to improve. Fair warning.

Can I use the writings you have here on my own site? I like my writing and definitely feel strange when people borrow it. It's where the most of who I am goes in my sites. I'm happy to be quoted all good and proper, but I've definitely read biographies of other people that sound suspiciously like my own. I can't call you on it unless it's obvious and verbatem. But really guys, come on. I have faith in you, internet. Don't try to take it away.

I love your site! Can we be affiliates? I'm different shades of picky when it comes to affiliation, and each site has its own requirements. At the network itself, I'm quite picky and tend to keep it to friends-only. I might rethink this sometime in the near future. I'm all for link exchanges though, so if you've got a related site, just email me.

Where do you get your images? Lots of places, I do try to credit with every layout. For the most part, browse ArtRenewal if you want high quality images of paintings, especially pre-Raphaelite works. Much of my videogame artwork comes from artbook scans donated to me by friends, and all literary artwork is either public domain or self-scanned cover images.

Where do you get your quotes? A lot of places. I spend much of my days browsing through my library searching for the perfect quote. Which isn't to say I don't have a few tricks up my sleeve. If you want quote sites, these are some of my favorites: The Quote Garden, The Columbia World of Quotation, and Bartlett's Familiar Quotations.

Do you host? No. I used to, but not anymore. I'm really bad at it. You don't want me.

Will you make me a layout/help me with HTML? I don't do custom layouts, and I don't take commisions. This is something I do entirely in my spare time for my own personal enjoyment. I want to keep it that way. All design requests are ignored.

I am willing to help you with HTML/CSS/Photoshop as much as I can, however. I can't teach you all that I know-- a girl has to have some secrets-- but if you've got a specific question, by all means, email. I've also got a LJ Question/Answer thread set up for this purpose.
